چکیده
In recent years, vein-based biometric recognition has received ever-increasing attention from both academia and industry, due to the advantages it offers over traditional traits such as fingerprint, iris, face. Nonetheless, some issues related use of vein biometrics still need be investigated understood. Specifically, in this study, we speculate about gender-related variations patterns, their effects on verification performance. An analysis feasibility recognizing male female subjects depending hand-vein level similarity characterizing templates extracted populations, are here carried out considering three different databases. public VERA dataset, containing samples palm-vein two datasets images finger-vein i.e., UTFVP database, an in-house dataset collected with on-the-move contactless modality, considered. The obtained experimental results show that approach proposed perform gender allows reach accuracy up 95.83% outperform current state-of-the-art at 93.55%. It is also shown systems can benefit exploitation information regarding considered subjects, achievable rates significantly improved by designing a system relying gender-specific models for extracting employed discriminative templates.

Hand Vein-based Multimodal Biometric Recognition
Multi-modal biometric recognition utilizes more than one modality for recognition of a person, when compared to the single modality with the help of enhanced security. The vascular patterns are one of the physiological biometrics and internal feature of the body, hence, it cannot be easily cracked, falsified or spoofed. This paper proposes a novel approach for biometric recognition, using finge...
متن کاملHand Vein Infrared Image Segmentation for Biometric Recognition
In this paper we propose a technique for both finding vein regions from thermal dorsal hand images and extracting features for biometric recognition; our technique analyzes the geometry of the hand to isolate the vein regions and extract some features (vein bifurcations and ending points) for being used as features in the training sets for classifiers. Commonly, the features extracted are used ...
متن کاملA New Multimodal Biometric System Based on Finger Vein and Hand Vein Recognition
As a reliable and robust biological characteristic, the vein pattern increases more and more the progress in biometric researches. Generally, it was shown that single biometric modality recognition is not able to meet high performances. In this paper, we propose a new multimodal biometric system based on fusion of both hand vein and finger vein modalities. For finger vein recognition, we employ...
